Generally bored, overtly unimpressed by the acting quality, and implicitly offended by the propagandist crap. Maybe it got better over the years? After 2 seasons, I couldn't see it trending in that direction. Yes, it is timely and maybe even accurate, if you want to compare it to the over-reaction of Western / Muslim phobia that is propagated by Western main stream media! But seriously ?Ĭ) The writing overall was just so main-stream "TV-Lame". But generally, the overall production is SO Flag-Waving USA We're SO Persecuted Yet Innocent !!! (Wei she ma ta men bu shi wan wa men ?!?!?) I couldn't keep watching. in this sense, Mandy Patinkin's participation (and I REALLY like him as an actor) is OBVIOUS in his Pro-Isreal / Anti-Muslim rhetoric, in the scripting, and his acting (the sheer horror in his face when this question of division between the two sides of this conflict supercedes his acting of the role he's playing, his hatefulness is that obvious, to me). I watched the first two seasons, and got terribly bored from:Ī) the TERRIBLE acting, particularly by Claire Danes (god, she's HORRIBLE in it whether that's the directors she's working with or what?), it was almost unwatchable, and so TYPICALLY "TV" B-quality crap acting.ī) the OBVIOUS propagandist nature of the series. Surprised at the overall reactions of this series, and thus its popularity (but then, "Friends" was once the #1 TV show in America, so, what can I really expect? Kudos to the producers for making something of substance that actually went somewhere. Producers depended on solid writing, acting and storytelling to keep audiences coming back…not endless gimmicks and a never ending story (think Handmaid's Tale) that go nowhere but circles until they've literally bored even the most ardent fans into numbness. This series was about telling a story so they didn't drag audiences out too far or too long…each season had its own main plot and that plot typically tied itself up by the end. Series have come a long way over the past decade but the majority are just crappy franchises and profit vehicles for studios who are chasing after that endless story that will hook and capture audiences enough that they'll keep their subscriptions. It's easy to watch but it's almost one of the more complex series (or at least was at the time of production). It's not a complex path from plot development to conclusion…it just builds at a steady, interesting pace and each episode completes another piece of the puzzle of what becomes the overall picture. It feels like it was written more in the style of a book rather than a TV series or film and that adds to the way that the plot builds. This series is the exact opposite of garbage like American Horror Story.
